Aäron Willem

Curator was a group exhibition in the old court of Ghent. Ben Benaouisse has organized this exhibition in response to the 100th birthday of the world expo in Ghent. Hundred years after expo 1913 a group of artists started to investigate the maltreatment of the so called primitive people who were exhibited at the expo.

My part, an installation of paintings, sculptures and writings, deals with the question "what is the value of a human life?" Different answers can occur, either on an emotional or a rational basis. As a kind of performance inspired by Kubrick's The Shining, I've written a book with only one sentence: "Life is meaningful! Life is meaningful!... Is it really? Yes it is! Life is meaningful! Life is meaningful!..."
